ClearTax, a global tax compliance and e-invoicing technology company, today announced that Defmacro Software SPC, its Oman entity, has been officially accredited by the Oman Tax Authority as an E-Invoicing Service Provider under the Sultanate’s Fawtara programme.

The accreditation authorises ClearTax to support businesses in Oman with the validation, exchange and reporting of electronic invoices in accordance with the technical and security requirements established by the Oman Tax Authority.

The development comes as Oman prepares to begin the phased implementation of its national e-invoicing framework. The first phase is scheduled to commence in August 2026 and will cover 100 large VAT-registered companies, followed by the onboarding of other large businesses and the wider VAT-registered business community in subsequent phases.

ClearTax’s accreditation marks an important expansion of its presence in the Sultanate and reinforces its commitment to supporting Oman’s broader economic digitalisation agenda. The company will help businesses connect their existing enterprise resource planning, accounting and billing systems with the Fawtara ecosystem, while managing invoice validation, secure transmission and evolving regulatory requirements.

“Accreditation by the Oman Tax Authority is an important milestone for ClearTax and reflects our long-term commitment to the Sultanate,” said Archit Gupta, Founder and CEO, ClearTax. “Oman is undertaking a significant transformation of its tax and financial infrastructure through Fawtara. Our immediate priority is to help businesses navigate this transition with confidence, without disrupting their existing finance and commercial operations.”

He added, “Our experience of other markets shows that successful e-invoicing implementation requires much more than connecting an ERP system to a government platform. Businesses must prepare their data, processes, technology architecture and internal teams well before their compliance date. We look forward to bringing our global experience and local capabilities to support enterprises across Oman throughout this journey.”

Oman’s Fawtara framework follows a decentralised five-corner model in which accredited service providers facilitate the secure exchange of electronic invoices between suppliers and buyers, while simultaneously reporting specified tax information to the Oman Tax Authority. The framework is expected to help improve transaction transparency, strengthen tax compliance, reduce manual processing and support greater automation across business finance functions.

With businesses frequently operating multiple ERP systems, legal entities and invoicing processes, readiness will be a critical consideration as implementation progresses. ClearTax will support enterprises across the complete e-invoicing lifecycle, including readiness assessment, data and process evaluation, ERP and point-of-sale integration, testing, onboarding, invoice validation and transmission, archiving, reconciliation and ongoing compliance management.

“Fawtara presents an opportunity for companies to modernise their finance operations, improve invoice accuracy and build stronger control over transaction data,” said Aditya Mittal, VP and Business Head, Global E-invoicing, ClearTax. “Our team in Oman will work closely with businesses, technology partners and advisers to help organisations move from regulatory preparation to implementation in a structured and timely manner.”

ClearTax brings experience from e-invoicing and digital tax programmes across more than 50 countries, including Saudi Arabia, the UAE, India, Malaysia, France, Germany and the Philippines. Its platform supports over 5,000 enterprises globally across sectors such as manufacturing, retail, logistics, healthcare, financial services, real estate and consumer goods.

The company’s enterprise-grade platform is designed to integrate with leading ERP and accounting environments and support businesses operating across multiple countries through a unified compliance infrastructure. This allows multinational and Omani enterprises to manage local regulatory requirements while maintaining consistency across their wider finance and tax operations.

Following the accreditation, ClearTax will expand its engagement with businesses, tax advisers, technology partners and industry stakeholders in Oman to support enterprise readiness for the Fawtara rollout.
